2022 Edition

The jury of the 5th Brut Experience International Sparkling Wine Competition distinguished, this year, with the Prestige Prize, the Quinta do Rol Grande Reserva 2011 sparkling wine, produced in the Lisbon Region.

The medal is only awarded to sparkling wines that have more than 95 points in 100. This year, 12 Gold Medals were also awarded to Portuguese sparkling wines, Spanish Cavas and German Sekts, in addition to 16 Silvers.

In a competition that follows the international regulations of the sector, as medals are only awarded for up to 30% of the wines in competition, 29 sparkling wines were distinguished in blind tasting.

2021 Edition

The jury of the 4th Brut Experience International Sparkling Competition awarded, for the first time since the competition was created, the highest distinction, granted to sparkling wines with more than 95 points out of 100.

The winners were the Portuguese sparkling wines Quinta dos Abibes espumante 2011 Sublime Brut Nature, Quinta do Poço do Lobo rose 2015 Bruto Natural, Terras do Avô 2015 Filipa 50 and the Italian Altinum 2014 Riserva Trento DOC. 16 Gold Medals and 7 Silver Medals were also awarded.

In a competition that follows the international regulations of the sector, as medals are only awarded for up to 30% of the wines in competition, 27 sparkling wines were distinguished in blind tasting.

2020 Edition

The jury of the 3 rd Brut Experience International Sparkling Wine Competition, made up of university professors, journalists, bloggers, oenologists, winemakers and merchants, selected 32 sparkling wines, of Portugal, France, Belgian and Moldova, which were awarded gold and silver medals.

This year no Prestige medals were awarded, reaching sparkling wines with 95 points or more in 100 in the competition. Due to the rules of social distancing and to ensure that the event was held in conditions that ensure the health of all participants, this year the contest was held in three separate rooms, one for each jury table.

2019 Edition

Second edition of the International Sparkling Competition held in Portugal, the Brut Experience 2019, which evaluated 108 sparkling wines from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Moldova. The results were known at the event of the same name, held on June 1 at the Lisbon Marriott Hotel.

Among the sparkling wines present at the competition, the jury, made up of journalists, bloggers, winemakers, sommeliers and wine merchants, selected 33, which were awarded 9 gold medals and 24 silver medals. In 2019 no Prestige medals were awarded, achievable for sparklers with 95 points or more out of 100 in the competition, although some references were very close to this level.

1º contest distinguishes 28 sparkling wines with gold and silver

The first International Sparkling Wine Competition held in Portugal, the Brut Experience 2018, evaluated 96 portuguese, french and german sparkling wines. The results were known at the event with the same name, held on June 16 at the Lisbon Marriott Hotel. Bairrada was the Portuguese region in the spotlight, with a total of 19 Gold and 9 Silver Medals.

Of the 96 sparkling wines present in the competition, the jury, made up of journalists, bloggers, winemakers, sommeliers and wine merchants from Portugal and other countries, selected 28, who were awarded with gold and silver medals. Prestige medals, which are achievable for sparklings with 95 points or more, in 100, in the competition, were not awarded this year, although some brands have been on the threshold of this level.
